Dear Prussing Families,
Please take a few minutes to complete the My Voice, My School parent survey. The link is www.cps.edu/parent_survey. The survey is open until April 30th, 2017 and is provided in different languages. This is very important for our school and we value your feedback.
The following are the 2017 Prussing History Fair Winners: 1st Place, THE BATTLE OF BLAIR MOUNTAIN by: Sadia Haidari, Ellen Lothian, and Natalia Klaus - Room 006; 2nd Place, THE NEWSIS STRIKE OF 1899 by: Rachel Cordero, Carla Flores, and Alex Flores - Room 006; and 3rd Place, THE GREAT RAILROAD STRIKE OF 1877 by: Adam Jezierczak and Jakub Sura – Room 006. Thank you students for your hard work and dedication. We are Prussing Proud of you!
Classroom Dojo Sports Day
Students who have earned this month’s classroom DOJO points are invited to wear a top or jersey of their favorite team/sport. The April DOJO celebration activities will be stations of sport activities for DOJO CHAMPS on Friday, April 28th, 2017.
The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) assessment for Prussing students will begin on May 15th and run through June 16th.
The PTO is proud to announce Prussing Tours on Tuesday. On Tuesday, a representative from the Parent-Teacher Organization will host a tour of Ernst Prussing School. The next tour will be on Tuesday, April 25th, and the tour will begin at 9:00 A.M. Simply walk into the Main Ofﬁce to sign in and get your Visitor’s Pass. Family members from all ages are welcome. A few students from the Prussing Student Council will accompany the tour so they can give interested families an insider’s perspective on their experience with attending Prussing School. The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) presents a School Chat with two education consultants, McCabe and O’Connell, on April 25th at 9:00 a.m. Please join us for a casual talk on the stage of the auditorium in discussing any parent ideas, concerns or questions. A continental breakfast will be served to be enjoyed by all.
The PTO is in need of volunteers to help with the Prussing Picnic and Run-a-Thon. For more information, please contact Prussing PTO at email@example.com. In addition, the PTO is sponsoring a Box Tops for Education Contest. Please send in box tops in a clear plastic bag with the room number written on it. The three classrooms to bring in the most box tops will win a prize. The Prussing PTO raises money for beautification projects, pays for field trip buses, and helps teachers with special projects. We need your help to constantly make Prussing a better environment for our children. Please help your Prussing school family. Our next Local School Council meeting will be on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the lunchroom. The next Prussing PTO meeting will be on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in the lunchroom. Free childcare will be available during both meetings. Our next Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and Bilingual Advisory Council (BAC) meetings will be on Thursday, May 11th at 8:45 a.m. We will have a Mother’s Day Celebration!
Prussing School is proud to have Right At School's "Right Club" optional after-care program every day at Prussing from 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. After a snack and fun fitness activities, students complete their homework and then have an afternoon of meaningful enrichment activities through sports, games, arts and crafts. The optional after-care program would cost families $160 per month. There is an Early Bird Registration and Promotion for returning students for the 2017-2018 school year, starting on May 15th, 2017. Returning students will get a beneﬁt of paying a $15 registration fee until June 15th. In addition, Right At School (RAS) will have Summer Camp options for interested families. There will be 3 locations of RAS Summer Camp, including Waters Elementary, Sauganash Elementary, and Nettelhorst Elementary (not Prussing, unfortunately). Hours are 7:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. and extended hours go to 6:00 P.M. Prices vary from $200-$250 per week. Please contact Danielle Taylor at email@example.com for questions or more information.
Attendance at school is very important to ensure that your child receives a high quality academic education. Please make sure that students arrive on time for school everyday and assemble on the playground, as weather permits. When the weather is inclement, please drop off your child at the Main Door. The school day begins promptly at 8:15 a.m. and dismissal time is at 3:15 p.m. Student marshals will assist primary grade students to safely enter the auditorium. Students will be dismissed at their regularly assigned door at the end of the school day at 3:15 p.m.
