Comprehensive Gifted Program
Prussing Elementary School offers a Comprehensive Gifted Program. It is designed to provide a challenging, accelerated program for the top 10% of the students in First through Eighth grade. The CGP promotes curriculum acceleration and differentiation to meet the needs of our students.
The Comprehensive Gifted Program establishes and maintains a high quality curriculum that is accelerated one-half to two years, depending on grade level.
Our teachers have completed the required gifted training or are pursuing training. Teachers use best practices for instructing gifted children. Our program challenges the students who consistently demonstrate superior general reasoning ability and/or potential to excel in academic areas.
Students are identified using a multipronged process, based on academic grades, standardized test scores (NWEA / PARCC), CAT scores for primary grades, and teacher recommendations.
If you have any questions in regards to our Comprehensive Program at Prussing, please contact our co-directors Jessica Chavez, jrchavez5@cps.edu, and Elexis Jay, elpersino@cps.edu.
